Hypoallergenic Jewelry
Your jewelry sits on your skin all day long – at the gym, in the shower, in summer and winter alike. So it really matters that it never irritates. At JEVAANI, every single piece is hypoallergenic, which makes it a safe choice for sensitive skin and anyone prone to allergies. Here you’ll learn what that actually means, what our jewelry is made of, and what to look for in skin-friendly jewelry. Discover our hypoallergenic necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
What does “hypoallergenic” mean?
The word comes from the Greek: “hypo” means “low” and “allergenic” means “reaction-causing”. So hypoallergenic jewelry is made to trigger an allergic reaction only very rarely. That matters most with jewelry, because it stays in direct contact with your skin for hours – and sweat or moisture can make reactions even more likely.
Hypoallergenic or nickel-free – what’s the difference?
The most common cause of skin reactions to jewelry is nickel. A nickel allergy is the most widespread contact allergy in the world, affecting around 10 to 20% of people in Central Europe – and women more often than men. “Nickel-free” means a piece releases so little nickel that it stays below the legal limit. “Hypoallergenic” is the broader term: the overall risk of a reaction is very low. Our pieces meet both criteria.
Our material: 316L stainless steel & 18K PVD gold plating
JEVAANI jewelry is made from high-grade 316L stainless steel – often called “surgical steel” because it’s also used in medical applications. Let’s be honest: 316L isn’t 100% nickel-free, because nickel is part of the alloy. What matters, though, is that the nickel is locked firmly into the material and barely released onto the skin – well below the legal limit. Our gold-tone pieces are also coated with real 18K gold using the PVD process: especially dense, abrasion-resistant and long-lasting. Find out more on our materials page.
Waterproof – and still kind to your skin
Our jewelry isn’t just hypoallergenic, it’s waterproof too. You can wear it in the shower, while washing your hands, at the gym or in the sea without it tarnishing or losing its color. For sensitive skin that’s a real plus: there’s no cheap coating that flakes off over time and exposes the metal underneath.
2-Year Gold Plating Guarantee
Quality you can rely on
We stand behind the quality of our plating. Because our 18K gold layer is applied with the especially hard-wearing PVD process, we give you a two-year guarantee on the gold plating. If it tarnishes or wears off prematurely under normal wear, we’ll take care of it.
Who is this for?
For anyone who has ever had itching, redness or tiny blisters from a necklace, a bracelet or earrings – but honestly, for everyone. Even if you don’t have an allergy today, constant contact with nickel-heavy costume jewelry can cause one to develop. Skin-friendly jewelry isn’t only for people with allergies – it’s a conscious choice for your skin.
How to care for it
Take your jewelry off before applying perfume or cream, and put it back on afterwards. Clean it now and then with a soft cloth and mild soap rather than harsh products. And store it dry and separate from cheap costume jewelry. That way it stays beautiful for a long time – and your skin stays happy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is stainless steel jewelry really hypoallergenic?
Yes. High-grade 316L stainless steel barely releases any nickel onto the skin, which makes it hypoallergenic and skin-friendly – even for sensitive skin.
Can I wear JEVAANI jewelry with a nickel allergy?
In the vast majority of cases, yes. Because our 316L stainless steel keeps nickel release well below the legal limit, people with allergies usually wear it without any problem.
Is your jewelry nickel-free?
Our jewelry is nickel-release-free to EU standards: the nickel in the alloy is firmly bound and barely released. That is the decisive point for skin tolerance.
Does the gold plating tarnish over time?
No. Our 18K gold plating is applied using the PVD process. It is especially hard-wearing, does not tarnish and will not flake off under normal wear.
What does the 2-year plating guarantee cover?
We guarantee for two years that the plating holds up under normal wear. If it tarnishes or wears off early, simply get in touch with us.
Can I wear the jewelry in the shower and swimming?
Yes. Our jewelry is waterproof and keeps its color and shine, even with daily contact with water, sweat or sunscreen.
