How we see sustainability

Foreword · The people · Material · The little things · Authenticity · Our path

Jewelry that lasts. Values that last.

Sustainability is a big word. These days you'll find it on almost every package and beneath almost every product, and sometimes we wonder whether it hasn't lost a little of its meaning along the way. So rather than simply printing it somewhere too, we'd prefer to tell you what it truly means to us. What JEVAANI stands for, how we think, and why we do things the way we do.

Our idea was simple from the very start. We wanted to make jewelry that's beautiful and that you can wear every single day, without ever having to take it off. Jewelry that stays with you for a lifetime. We soon came to see that, for us, beauty and responsibility belong together. One doesn't work without the other. This page is our way of showing you, openly and honestly, what lies behind our pieces. Not as a glossy promise, but the way it really is with us.

The people we know

Behind every JEVAANI piece are people. That sounds obvious, but sadly it isn't. In our industry, it's quite common for a brand not to really know who actually makes its pieces, because so many middlemen sit in between. In the end, no one knows the hands a piece of jewelry has passed through.

With us, it's different, and we're genuinely proud of that. We know each and every one of our partners personally. Not a name on an invoice, but the person behind it. We know who works for us, how the work is done and under what conditions. We've sat down with them, asked questions and listened. These relationships have grown over the years, and they mean far too much to us to ever hand them over to an anonymous supply chain.

A lovely example are our gemstone bracelets. They're made together with a small atelier in Bangkok that we've visited in person and know well. The people there love their craft and have honed it with great care for years. Whenever we think of our pieces, we think of them too.

There's one thing here that matters to us in particular. We don't want to tell you that every piece is made entirely by hand, because that wouldn't be true. Some steps are done by hand, others with the help of modern technology. What we can promise you wholeheartedly is that every JEVAANI piece holds careful, detailed handwork, and that each one is crafted with real love for detail. It's precisely this combination that creates the quality our name stands for.

Why we choose stainless steel

For us, responsibility begins with the choice of material. We work with 316L stainless steel, and honestly, we're a little in love with this material. It's tough and waterproof, it doesn't tarnish and doesn't rust, and it's gentle on the skin and hypoallergenic. That means you can wear your jewelry all day long, even with sensitive skin, while washing your hands, in the shower or in the sea. You never have to take it off, and that's exactly how jewelry should be, in our view.

Stainless steel has another quality we particularly love. It's among the most recyclable materials there is. Steel can be reused almost endlessly without losing any of its quality, a cycle that keeps going long after a single piece of jewelry has told its own story.

And then there's something that may matter to us most of all. A piece that lasts for years doesn't need to be replaced again and again. That's why we give you a two-year guarantee on the plating. Not because we have to, but because we believe in pieces that stay with you for a long time. Well-made jewelry that you love to wear every day is, to us, the most beautiful and most honest form of responsibility there is.

The little things that matter to us

For us, responsibility isn't a single grand promise, but the sum of many small decisions we make day after day. Each one on its own is tiny. Together, though, they add up to exactly the way we want to work.

We send your order to you in a climate-neutral way, with Swiss Post and their «pro clima» shipment, by the shortest routes possible. When packing, we deliberately do without tissue paper and use as little plastic as we can. What reaches you is mostly paper and cardboard, and if you don't want to reuse it, it simply goes into the paper and cardboard recycling. Your receipts come to you digitally, which saves paper and means you always have your receipt to hand. Behind the scenes, too, we try to work thoughtfully. Wherever possible, we work from home, which keeps our journeys short and leaves more time for life and family.

None of this saves the world on its own. But we firmly believe that many small, honest decisions achieve more in the end than a single big word printed on a package.

Why authenticity matters to us

There's a moment that really hits us as a small brand. It's when someone copies our designs, our photos or our name to sell something that has nothing to do with us. Imitations are an issue many brands struggle with, and for a young, small label like ours they can do a great deal of damage.

That's why it matters to us that you know where to find genuine JEVAANI jewelry. You'll find it in our own online shop, in retail, and in personal contact with us. If, on the other hand, you come across our jewelry, our images or our name somewhere on an outside online marketplace, then it isn't us. You can help us by buying your piece through our own channels and letting us know if you spot our content somewhere else. That way, what we're building with so much heart stays exactly what it should be: real.

Our path

We're a small company, and we learn something new every day. For us, responsibility isn't a goal you reach once and then tick off. It's more of an attitude you live anew each day. We look closely, we ask ourselves questions, and wherever we can do something better, we take the next step.

That's how we understand sustainability. Not as a label you pin on yourself, but as the way we think, decide and work. Openly and honestly, even when it would be easier to simply use the pretty word.

How it all began for us, the idea, the people and the first spark, we'll tell you soon in another place. Until then, we're truly glad that you're walking part of the way with us.
